Blogging Success Tips

Monday 20 March 2006 @ 3:50 pm

I found some neat blogging success tips at
Gaining More Blog Readers

Anyway, here is a comment I wanted to post but due to a server error I couldn’t so, I’ll post them here and maybe it will appear as a trackback.

Hey Man, I’ve learnt some useful things here. I’ve never heard of blogburst. I actually got to your blog from a post you made at weblogempire.com and it piqued my interest.

I think I’m in sync with your goal and my suggestion for hitting walls is just to keep going. Everyone suffers from temporary content block. I love the way you honestly analyse what you’ve been doing in comparison to these strategies.

I am definitely going to check out blogburst as a result of this and then maybe even write some material with the end in mind of getting picked up.

I think I write a pretty good string of gobbledigook when I put my mind to it.

I,m coming back here to read these points in detail.

You know - one thing that gets in the way of writing is the compulsive desire to be original. Everything is somewhat shared. I mean who owns the words and ideas we use. All we can really do is point others attention to things that we all know but that is still of great benefit.

Keep up the good work. Thanks for your work on this.

I’m now using gmail and a link to a tutorial for gmail with thunderbird

Wednesday 15 March 2006 @ 10:01 am

Well, it’s all happening isn’t it. They say it never rains but it pours. Further to my increased love of all things Google I have just activated a Gmail account. The main reason for this is that my regular email address has been spammed to hell and back and I’m just sick of it. The other reason is that I am switching to ADSL2, which I mentioned in a previous post. Part of that is that I will need a new email address. Now silly me, it just occured to me that i have a central, nice and spam free address with the Big G, then if I change ISPs again it’s going to be a lot easier. I still have the momentous
task of switching all my email addresses in my multitude of providers, services and contacts that I need just to exist in my current form on the internet, but when all is said and done, I love it because I will only have to do the work once. Plus I can’t beat the 2.7G of storage Google is going to donate to the cause. Way to go Google.

Now further to this is another problem I have had. I am an afficianado of Thunderbird, the Mozilla Foundations, open source email client - and I’d like to get my gmail in my Thunderbird inboxes. I didn’t even know this was possible but I searched on Google and found a tutorial for configuring Thunderbird and Gmail for pop access, so that you can get you gmail on thunderbird.

Pretty cool hey?

You can find the complete instructions for configuring Thunderbird for Gmail at this nice little blog here. I told the guy I’d link to him, since it saves me having to write this tutorial myself. I couldn’t have done a better job.

Configuring Gmail and Thunderbird together

So here it is: How to configure Thunderbird for Gmail - or reading Gmail on Thunderbird - you know what I mean.

ViralPix - A new image sharing script

Tuesday 14 March 2006 @ 5:41 am

Viralpix is a new image sharing script available. It allows webmasters to create a website allowing visitors to post their photos and share them with friends and families. Additionally you can place an image gallery snapshot in your MySpace account creating an image sharing centre for friends, family or your online community.

And the best part about it is it’s free to upload your images.

Here’s what the authors had to say about MySpace which I thought was pretty interesting, since I only heard about MySpace last week.

* MySpace is a super cool, totally free, and wildly popular social networking site (a massive online community)

* MySpace members can create profile pages, blogs, share music, make friends, communicate with each other, and much more

* MySpace is currently the 9th most popular website on the planet

* MySpace is currently growing by more than 150,000 new users a day

* MySpace gets more than 12 billion page views per month (that’s more page views than any Internet destination except Yahoo, AOL, and MSN!)

Now that is some successful business.

Check out MySpace

Heck MySpace is definitely popular.

*** See my viralpix site BudPix.net

Why is called Viral Pix

Because you share your pics with others and they share their pics and pretty soon you’ve got an avalanche of traffic. But if you just want to post your photos for your friends it’s great for that too.

CHECK OUT VIRALPIX NOW
